Every year, BHALO hosts its annual Back-to-School Drive, a cornerstone community initiative that provides essential school supplies to more than 500 families across Queens and surrounding neighborhoods. This event is designed to help children start the school year ready and confident equipped with backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other learning essentials that many families struggle to afford.

Through this program, BHALO helps ease that stress by ensuring that every child—regardless of household income—has access to the tools needed for academic success. The drive also fosters a sense of unity and pride, bringing together volunteers, donors, and community members who believe in investing in the next generation.
Each year, dozens of volunteers dedicate their time to event setup, supply organization, distribution, and family engagement. Their work transforms what could be a routine supply giveaway into a joyful day of community celebration, hope, and empowerment. Beyond school supplies, the event builds lasting connections between families and local resources, reinforcing BHALO’s commitment to supporting educational equity and opportunity for all.
