Mental Health First Aid Workshops
BHALO’s Mental Health First Aid Workshops, conducted in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), provide community members with the tools to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges. Participants learn how to offer initial support to someone in crisis and connect them to appropriate professional help. Led by certified trainers and mental health professionals, these workshops promote empathy, awareness, and early intervention while helping to reduce stigma and strengthen community care. Through this partnership with DOHMH, BHALO continues to foster open dialogue, resilience, and collective well-being within Queens’ diverse communities.
